With the aim of illustrating current legislative discrimination in the area of women’s autonomy and economic empowerment, the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and UN Women’s Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean have prepared the publication “Analysis of discriminatory legislation in Latin America and the Caribbean in the area of women’s autonomy and economic empowerment”.

The report points out the persistence of important challenges in the legislative frameworks of the countries of the region that generate direct or indirect discrimination, affecting women’s autonomy and economic empowerment. It also analyses these norms related to rights linked to unpaid work, access to goods and resources, and paid work, identifying areas where progress is needed.
