Fiscal policy and public budgets are central instruments of governments’ economic and social policy, as they reflect governmental priorities through decisions on revenue collection and resource allocation. For these tools to effectively contribute to gender equality, it is essential that they guarantee women’s and girls’ access to, participation in, and benefit from budget allocations.
Gender-responsive budgeting (GRB) is a strategic tool to ensure that public expenditures and revenues recognize the differentiated impacts on men and women, and promote changes in revenue collection and resource distribution. In this way, it contributes to strengthening the financing of policies aimed at reducing gender gaps.
