Violence and workplace harassment

Violence and harassment in the world of work constitute a violation of human rights and a threat to equal opportunities, decent work, and women’s economic autonomy, as expressly recognized by the ILO Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (No. 190), and Recommendation No. 206, which highlight their impacts on health, dignity, and opportunities for access to, retention in, and advancement in employment. The adoption of these instruments represents a historic milestone, as they establish for the first time at the international level the right of every person to a world of work free from violence and harassment in all its forms, incorporating an inclusive, integrated, and gender-responsive approach.
